AUGUSTO ILIAN FOTOGRAFO

Soy sensible al acontecer diario, ya sea urbano o de naturaleza. Me gusta interactuar con los personajes de la calle e indagar por su origen y actividades antes de hacerles fotos.
La fotografía de aves para mi es un relax y me desconecto de la cotidianidad totalmente pues son jornadas muy largas que generalmente empiezan hacia las cuatro de la mañana y terminan al final de la tarde en sitios retirados de los núcleos urbanos, en donde no entra celular y mucho menos internet, eso me permite tener comunicación e integración total con el medio ambiente y sus moradores, disfrutar de los colores y los cantos de las aves en su estado natural.
Empecé a ‘pajarear’  al comienzo de 2016, cuando reuní a varios amigos fotógrafos de varias disciplinas en mi estudio al que llamo “El Bunker” por ser una construcción casi blindada de concreto armado en el sótano de mi casa.  Uno de mis amigos quien es fanático de fotografía de aves propuso hacer una salida a ‘pajarear’ y desde allí quede enganchado en el tema que a hoy me apasiona.
En esas largas caminadas en donde interactúo con la naturaleza y aprovecho para respirar aire puro y disfrutar de los paisajes y parajes de nuestra geografía, me dan una paz total y llego al final del día totalmente renovado.

Empecé en la fotografía en Bogota en 1978 con el maestro Javier Sandoval en su estudio, en esa época la fotografía era análoga, con él aprendí desde la fotografía básica y el revelado en laboratorio hasta técnicas de iluminación y estudio (la fotografía de estudio nunca la practique). Tuve mi propio laboratorio en casa en donde revelaba mis fotos. En esa época me encantaba hacer retratos de mis amigas en exteriores. Luego cuando estaba viviendo en Miami aparecieron las cámaras digitales y me gusto el hecho de poder ver inmediatamente el resultado de mis capturas, a pesar de que perdía la magia del revelado en el laboratorio.

Cuando regrese de USA volví a Cali y continúe con la fotografía digital, cambie muchas veces de cámara a medida que mejoraba la técnica digital con cámaras intermedias (no profesionales) hasta que la pasión me llevo a tomar mas en serio la técnica digital y el revelado digital en el computador.

En 2009  encontré en internet una fotografia 360 de una ciudad de Europa que me llamó la atención, investigue y no encontre ningun video que explicara cómo se hacían y me dí a la tarea de conseguir hacer una foto de ese estilo.

Después de mucho investigar sobre el tema y diseñar mi propio equipo para poderlas tomar, logre hacer la primera panorámica 360 en abril de 2010, pegando 49 fotos tomadas con una cámara NIKON D3000 y un lente básico 18-55mm. Desde ese momento he hecho mas de 400 panorámicas 360 para tures virtuales de hotels, fincas, restaurantes y sitios turisticos.

En la fotografía 360 me encanta poder mostrar la sensación de inmersión total 360° tratando de trasladar a quien las ve al sitio para que se sienta allí.

Luego descubri la posibilidad de representarlas en mini planetas que son la representación bidimensional de las fotografías 360°, y que me recuerdan a los planetas de El Principito, me parecen mágicas y simpáticas.

 Augusto Ilián Nació el 26 de mayo de 1953 en la ciudad de Pereira, Risaralda (Colombia), creció en la ciudad de Cali. Estudió hasta 3 de bachillerato en el colegio Berchmans y se graduo en el Colegio Franciscano de Pio XII, ambos de Cali.  Es Ingeniero de Sistemas y Computación de la Universidad de Los Andes, Bogotá D.C. 1978.

AUGUSTO ILIAN PHOTOGRAPHER

I am very sensitive to daily events, whether urban or nature. I like to interact with the people on the street and inquire about their origin and activities before taking photos of them.

Bird photography for me is a relax and I totally disconnect from everyday life because they are very long days that generally start around four in the morning and last to the end of the afternoon in places far from the urban centers, where cell phones do not receive signal much less the internet, that allows me to have communication and full integration with the environment and its inhabitants, enjoy the colors and songs of birds in their natural state.

I started ‘birding’ at the beginning of 2016, when I gathered several photographic friends from various disciplines in my studio which I call “The Bunker” for being an almost armored reinforced concrete construction in the basement of my house. One of my friends who is a fan of bird photography proposed to make an exit to ‘birding’ and from there I was hooked on the subject that I am passionate about today.

Those long walks where I interact with nature and take the opportunity to breathe fresh air and enjoy the nature and landscapes of our geography, give me total peace and I arrive at the end of the day totally renewed.

I started photography in Bogota in 1978 with Javier Sandoval in his studio, at that time photography was analogous, so I learned from basic photography and laboratory development to lighting and study techniques (I never made studio photography). I had my own laboratory at home where I developed my photos. At that time I loved to do portraits of my friends outdoors. Then when I was living in Miami, digital cameras appeared and I liked the fact that I could immediately see the result of my captures, even though I lost the magic of developing them in the laboratory.

When I returned from the USA I returned to Cali and continued with digital photography, I changed my camera many times as the digital technique with intermediate cameras (non-professional) improved until the passion led me to take digital technique and development more seriously.

In 2009 I found on the internet a 360 photo of a city in Europe that caught my attention, I investigated and I did not find any video that explained how they were made and I decided to find out how to get a photo of that style.

After a long research on the subject and designing my own equipment to take them, I made my first 360 panoramic in April 2010, pasting 49 photos taken with a NIKON D3000 camera and a basic 18-55mm lens. Since then I have made more than 400 360 panoramic views for virtual tours of hotels, farms, restaurants and tourist sites.

In 360 photography I love being able to show the sensation of total immersion trying to give to those who see them the sensation of being there.

Then I discovered the possibility of representing them on mini planets that are the two-dimensional representation of 360° photographs, and that remind me of the planets of The Little Prince, they seem magical and nice to me.

Augusto Ilián was born on May 26, 1953 in the city of Pereira, Risaralda (Colombia), grew up in the city of Cali. He studied up to 3^rd grade of high school at the Berchmans College and graduated from the Franciscan College of Pio XII, both from Cali.

He is a Systems and Computing Engineer from the Universidad de Los Andes, Bogotá D.C. 1978.

He studied photography with the teacher Javier Sandoval in Bogotá 1978.
